Northern Impact Volleyball Club is a member of the JVA and hosts competitive teams competing across the region.  Tryouts are competitive with players selected on the basis of skill and other intangibles with the intention of forming the most competitive teams possible.  Our program is dedicated to developing athletes of character and competing at the highest level possible while keeping our costs among the lowest in the area.  As a 501C3 non-profit, our focus is on your player, not our pocketbook.

Tryouts for our club teams will occur on the following dates:

  • Players ages 13-14, may tryout at Mounds View High School on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 9 am.
  • Players ages 9-12, may tryout at Mounds View High School on Sunday, October 26, 2025 starting at 11:30 am.
  • U17 and U18 candidates will tryout at Edgewood Middle School on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 9 am.
  • U15 and U16 candidates will tryout at Edgewood Middle School on Sunday, November 9, 2025 starting at 11:30 am.

NIVB will form 10 teams spanning ages 10 - 18 years of age.  We hope to host a high-level 18s team again, but a combined 17-18 team may be more likely.  We will adjust teams to best meet the demographics of those trying out and to make the most competitive teams possible.  A typical year looks something like this:

1 - U12 Team

2 - U13 Team

Cost:
Fees for U12 Teams will be $1995 ($1895 for one-time payment)

Fees for U13 - U18 Teams will be $2995 ($2895 for one-time payment)

Payment plans are available and there will be a discount for season payments made in full on tryout day.

Players will be required to make full or down-payment on tryout day to accept their invitation to the club.  Invitations will not be held without payment and the club may offer the position to the next qualifying candidate.

Team Practices:

Most practices will be held at New Brighton Community Center except in rare circumstances where gyms are not available and alternative facilities can be found.

Practices will be 90-120 minutes in length depending upon team level.  Typically U12 and U13 teams may only practice 90-minutes while U14 and older teams typically practice longer.

Practice nights will be announced prior to tryouts, but may adjust as required by coach availability or gym scheduling.   Practices may run between 5pm and 9:50 pm

Competitions typically begin in January but may include scrimmage or pre-season matches in mid/late December, if possible.  Most events are on weekends. but some travel events may require Friday attendance.

NIVB strives to schedule a mix of play dates, single-day tournaments and multi-day tournaments.  Most teams travel outside of the Metro area, overnight, at least twice per season.  Rochester, Duluth, Des Moines, IA and Wisconsin Dells, WI have been common destinations in recent years.  Most teams will play 12-15 event days in a typical season.

Season fees reflect a high value in terms of playing time and coaching. Fees include: gym rental, coaching fees, JVA Membership, equipment, uniforms, Tournaments and event fees.
